July 21st – 24th was host to one of the best high school lacrosse tournaments in the country – The Battle of the Hotbeds.  Held at the University of Delaware, Hotbeds boasts almost 70 high school teams annually and 80-100 colleges in attendance. Many college coaches say this is the one event every year they cannot afford to miss.

MO22 was one of the 69 teams in attendance this year, and had their work cut out for them, not only from the team standpoint, but trying to get some of the players noticed by those in attendance would be no walk in the park. By the end of the final day of competition, MO22 had put together a respectable resume, which included 5 all-stars. Their record was as follows:

  • 8-7 W    Team Washington CoHos
  • 7-10 L   L.I. Sting Black
  • 9-8 W    Team Minn
  • 11-5 W    Team Michigan True 2015
  • 16-0 W    NJLC 2015
  • 14-1 W    Twist 2014
  • 6-7 L    Building Blocks
  • 4-9 L    West Islip
  • OVERALL: 5-3

The following players were selected as all-stars:

  • 2014 – Michael Beckham (Christian Brothers College High) – Midfield
  • 2014 – Alex Pfeil (Eureka High) – Goalie
  • 2014 – Ian Meister (Christian Brothers College High) – Midfield
  • 2014 – Max Keeley (Christian Brothers College High) – Attack
  • 2015 – Paul Rougeau (DeSmet Jesuit) – Defense

Additionally, Chris Wetzel (a 2014 who has committed to Colgate) received a nice write up from TopLaxRecruits.com. That article can be found here.

The MO22 team was the only from the state of Missouri to compete in the Battle of the Hotbeds.
